INTEL - IMPROVING JAVA PERFORMANCE FOR THE SERVER-SIDE

Intel will present their methods of improving Java performance for the server-side Intel architectures. The presentation will cover the Intel’s latest server hardware (Xeon 5600 & 7500 processors), platform features (hyper-threading, turbo mode, system memory configurations and NUMA). In addition, Anil Kumar will discuss optimization and tuning techniques used for the JVM, core scaling, socket scaling, memory & heap sizing. These techniques and knowledge base have proven very valuable to Java programmers in avoiding many pitfalls from the beginning, to performance evaluators in utilizing full potential of a given platform and to deployment personnel in making informed decisions about the configuration best suited for their environment .

AMAZON - ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN PATTERNS IN CLOUD COMPUTING

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides highly reliable, scalable, elastic infrastructure where you only pay for what you use with no up-front expenses or long-term commitments. In this session, Jinesh Varia will discuss new ways to build architectures that leverages the AWS platform to its fullest. This session will provide prescriptive guidance to cloud architects (Concepts, Best Practices, design patterns) who are looking to either migrate an existing session to the cloud or build a new application with 21st century design.

Topics
  • How to you architect future applications with cloud in mind?
  • How to migrate an existing web application in the cloud?
  • How to "spike-proof" your web application ? Auto-scaling ?
  • How to build a secure website in the cloud?
  • What are some of the best practices in building a highly scalable application in the Cloud ?
